Hearts vs Tottenham Hotspur: Back a winning start for Harry’s men
Tottenham Hotspur’s season finally gets underway against Hearts in the Europa League tonight with Harry Redknapp’s side looking to embark on another European adventure.
Spurs head into the game as big favourites at 4/6 after last year’s brilliant Champions League campaign that saw them defeat both Inter and AC Milan.
However, this will be Spurs’ first competitive game of the season after their home game against Everton was called off at the weekend because of the North London riots.
And, after nearly slipping up in Champions League qualifying against Young Boys last term, Gareth Bale has confirmed Spurs won’t be taking any chances.
The winger said: “We fully know what to expect at Hearts, we know they will probably look to come at us but we’ll also be raring to go.
“They will be just as determined to qualify and we’ll need to start well.
“I’m sure it will be a good game and we won’t take it lightly, that’s for sure. We’ll treat it like any other game and go out to win.”
Hearts have already played six competitive games this term – including two against Paksi in the Europa League – but have only managed to record two victories.
Meanwhile, Spurs have had a disappointing summer in the transfer market and have failed to add any real quality to their squad. With Robbie Keane leaving to LA Galaxy and talks with Emmanuel Adebayor still ongoing, goals may prove hard to come by.
However, they should still have too much quality for Hearts despite their lack of transfer activity and competitive action.
It’ll be tight though, so back a Spurs win at 4/6 and under 2.5 goals at 5/6.
