The Championship sides to back in your Tuesday accumulator

| 16.08.2011

Early Championship pacesetters Cardiff aren’t in action until Wednesday, so we’re looking a little further down the tables for our punts…

Read our League One and League Two previews for the best bets in the respective leagues and combine the picks to land a healthy accumulator.

Crystal Palace to beat Coventry @ 1/1

After struggling for much of last season, Crystal Palace have got off to a very solid start this term, narrowly losing away to Peterborough before an impressive 2-0 home win against Burnley.

It was Palace’s form at Selhurst Park that kept them in the second tier last season, having the 12th best overall home record and the seventh tightest defence.

With Coventry winning on just one of their previous ten visits to South London and the Sky Blues failing to find the net in two opening defeats, backing Palace to get another win looks the bet.

Southampton to beat Ipswich @ 15/8

Southampton’s brilliant start to their first season back in the Championship looks set to continue tonight against Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys showed no sign of missing teenage striker Connor Wickham in their 3-0 opening home win against Bristol City but then failed to find the net in their second game away to Hull.

With two wins against Leeds United and Barnsley already this term and the second best away record in League One last season, Southampton should come through to win this one.

Reading to draw with Portsmouth @ 23/10

Last season’s Championship play-off finalists Reading travel to Portsmouth looking to keep up their solid start.

They began with a 2-2 home draw against Millwall before surprising everyone with a 2-0 away victory against big-spending Leicester City.

Pompey have picked up one point from their two opening games and had the 16th worst home record in the division last season.

However, Reading haven’t won at Fratton Park in over ten years so sticking this as a draw in your accumulator will guarantee some big odds.
