The Safety Net: Murray appeals but Caledonia Lady can hit target
A comfortable win for Thomaz Bellucci last night put the Safety Net just £1 away from our first real milestone of £500.
With £499 in the Safety Net bank, a win today would put us beyond the £500 milestone as we race to fill the bank before the end of the tax year, and today we’re concentrating on horse racing.
Andy Murray returns to the court for the first time since helping Great Britain to Davis Cup victory over Luxembourg last month, and he appeals at 1/12 to beat Kevin Anderson this evening, but at a shorter price we like Caledonia Lady in the 18:00 at Ffos Las.
Jo Hughes’ two-year-old lines up for this seven runner Class 4 maiden as the 1/2 favourite, and there is plenty of support for the filly who impressed at a huge price in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Caledonia Lady finished third in that Group 2 race at Ascot and performed gamely in a Group 2 at Newmarket earlier in the month, finishing five-and-a-half lengths off the leader.
Hughes’ filly took the step-up to six furlongs at Newmarket in her stride and she can boast the standout form in this field that doesn’t boast too many competitors.
Last year’s race saw Brevity win at a short price and Caledonia Lady can reward the faith from the punters with victory today.
In order to reach our £20 target today we’re staking £40 on Caledonia Lady winning today.
Today’s stake: £40
Best case scenario: £519
Worst case scenario: £459
Last Safety Net bet: Thomaz Bellucci beat Andrey Golubev @ 4/11
Wealth warning: although we are confident the safety net bet’s strategy will be profitable over a period of time, the nature of sport means we cannot guarantee you will win every single time.
