Bet on Adebayor to be centre stage for Spurs against Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur may begin their Europa League campaign against PAOK this evening, but most Spurs fans will already be looking forward to their Premier League encounter with Liverpool this weekend.

It’s always an intriguing game and you have to go back to 2005 to find the last time a game between these sides finished goalless.

However, this clash looks set to be even more interesting thanks to Emmanuel Adebayor’s move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The striker has a colourful history against the Reds and in his last five games against them has scored two goals and been sent off once.

The sending off came while playing for Arsenal in a 2008 December clash when Adebayor was given a second yellow card for a foul on Alvaro Arbeloa.

Despite his very decent record against Liverpool, the first game between Manchester City and the Reds last season saw Adebayor stuck on the City bench for the entire 90 minutes.

For the second clash that Liverpool won 3-0, Adebayor was in exile at Real Madrid.

Harry Redknapp will have no such qualms about unleashing the controversial striker this Sunday and the Togolese can be backed at 7/1 to open the scoring at White Hart Lane.

He’s also 9/4 to score at any time and 40/1 to bag a hat-trick against Kenny Dalglish’s side.

Meanwhile, favourite to score first is Liverpool striker Luis Suarez who has started the season brilliantly for the Reds.

He can be backed at 5/1 to find the net before anyone else.
