Rose and Donald to mount serious Tour Championship challenges

Justin Rose’s win at the BMW Championship in Chicago last weekend was a triumph of guts more than guile and he will be hard to beat in this weekend’s season ending Tour Championship.

A win for Rose in the Atlanta event would see him not only pick up the first prize of $1.44m but also the $10m pot for the overall winner of the FedEx Cup.

The World No.17 has shown in the past he can consistently produce the goods in America and last season won the Memorial Tournament and the AT&T National within the space of a month.

Rose can be backed at 16/1 to win the tournament which could prove a solid each-way bet after his win last week in which he was scrambling for much of the final round.

FedEx Cup leader Webb Simpson is second favourite in the betting at 12/1 after another solid performance at the BMW that saw him finish six shots behind Rose in sixth place.

Simpson has won twice already on the PGA Tour this season and, with the second best scoring average on the tour, he’ll certainly be in the mix come Sunday.

However, it’s hard to look too far beyond favourite and World No.1, Luke Donald.

He has the lowest scoring average on the tour and was his consistent best in the BMW Championship, finishing in fourth place.

He’s also fourth in the FedEx Cup standings and can be backed at 6/1 to win for a second time this season at the Tour Championship.
