Snow Fairy being backed in Prix l’Arc de Triomphe odds

Published:

With the Prix De l’Arc de Triomphe looking particularly wide open this year, punters believe they have located the each-way value with Snow Fairy.

A week ago Snow Fairy was available at 25/1 in the Arc betting, but has been well supported in recent days, first into 20/1 and now 16/1.

Ed Dunlop’s filly ran with credit on her latest start, finishing within a length of fellow Arc contender So You Think in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

However, what is significant about this race is that it was run over 1m2f, two furlongs shorter than the Arc.

Snow Fairy should relish the step up in trip, while So You Think’s stamina is to be pushed to the limit and there is no guarantee that he will have anything left in the tank in the closing stages.

Yet despite these doubts, So You Think is still 5/1 in the Arc odds.

There is certainly the belief that there is some discrepancy in betting, given how close the pair finished last time.

Other things that look to be in Snow Fairy’s favour are the weather forecast, as the lack of rain predicted at Longchamp will help the horse get her favoured quick ground.

She is also proven at Group One level, winning in top company on four occasions in the past, including twice over the Arc distance of 1m4f.

Furthermore, the shorter home straight at Longchamp could play to her advantage as she has struggled on longer straights in the past.

With the Arc also suiting horses who are unleashed late, this could ensure the race pans out in an ideal manner for her race plan.

Meanwhile, Frankie Dettori is on course to be in the saddle and he has already ridden Lammtarra, Sakhee and Marienbard to victory in the Arc in the past.
