Real Madrid prepare monster offer for young Manchester United star

Manchester United’s title chances could be dealt a major blow in January if Real Madrid follow up on an alleged interest in Javier Hernandez.

Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is prepared to offer £30m for the Mexican hitman in January as he looks to bolster his own strike-force in La Liga.

Although Manchester United will want to keep hold of the 23-year-old, the offer may prove too good to refuse as they only spent £6m to sign him from Chivas ahead of last season.

Meanwhile, it is unlikely that they will be able to match the salary that Real Madrid could offer.

Hernandez is arguably due a pay rise after his 20 goals substantially helped Manchester United to the Premier League title last season, as well as the Champions League final.

But even if Manchester United do significantly increase his current £25,000 a week sum, they may have trouble competing with the Spanish giants, who may be prepared to offer as much as six times that amount.

Hernandez was already linked with Real Madrid in the close season, with the consensus being that if a lucrative offer was on the table, it would certainly be looked at closely.

Manchester United’s odds are currently 4/5 to win the Premier League and the good news for them for January is that they will not lose any of the squad to the African Cup of Nations.

This is unlike their leading title rivals, with Chelsea to lose Didier Drogba and Michael Essien and Manchester City will have to do without Kolo and Yaya Toure for three weeks.

Manchester City are currently 2/1 in the Premier League betting to win the title for the first time this season, with Chelsea certainly looking the best value bet at 4/1.
