Spain vs Scotland: Tartan Army to battle Spanish without Miller

Scotland face the unenviable task of travelling to Spain for their crucial Euro 2012 qualifying game needing a win to guarantee a play-off spot.

With Spain already comfortably qualified, the Scots will be hoping for some complacency on their behalf and some inspiration of their own if they are to ease out the Czech Republic who are one point behind in third.

Their task has been made much more difficult though with striker Kenny Miller set to miss out and Craig Mackail-Smith, Barry Bannan and Darren Fletcher also doubtful.

However, with Spain set to rest Iker Casillas and potentially reshuffle their pack, the Scots cannot be ruled out…

Match odds

It is a monumentally difficult ask for Scotland to bag all three points against the reigning world and European champions and the odds reflect this, with Spain big favourites at 1/5.

Spain have not lost a competitive game since their opening 2010 World Cup match against Switzerland and it’s incredibly hard to look beyond yet another win for the brilliant Spanish.

However, the Scots ran them close at Hampden Park last time, fighting back from 2-0 down to level before losing to a late Fernando Llorente strike.

Scotland can be backed at a massive 14/1 to win.

Goal markets

David Villa opened the scoring the last time these teams met but, with the Barcelona striker set to start on the bench and Llorente poised for a starting berth, backing the Athletic Bilbao striker to find the net looks worth a punt at 4/1.

Ladbrokes are also offering to refund all losing first goalscorer bets if Scotland’s Steven Naismith – who scored in the last game against Spain – finds the net at 14/1, making it an even more tempting bet.
