Strictly Come Dancing: romance rumours won’t hurt Valance chance

| 26.10.2011

Despite spending more time denying that anything is going on between them than actually dancing, rumours continue to persist about Holly Valance and Artem Chigvintsev.

Artem is currently romancing his partner from last year, Kara Tointon, and the tabloids continue to speculate that the sexy routines he and Holly perform are putting stress on that relationship.

There’s more chance of Nancy Dell’Olio turning into Ginger Rogers than the rumours being true, but a little scandal hasn’t done any harm in past series and Holly may well be worth backing at 6/1 to win the title.

The first series back in 2004 was carried along by a steady stream of rumours that newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky and partner Brendan Cole were doing more than enjoying a foxtrot together.

They went on to win the show from Christopher Parker and Hanna Karttunen.

The fifth series in 2007 also saw rumours of romance between Matt Di Angelo and Flavia Cacace.

The couple made it to the final and were only defeated by Alisha Dixon who was so impressive that she went on to become a judge on the show.

Matt and Flavia ended up in a three year relationship before eventually splitting in 2010.

Finally, last year saw Artem and Kara sweep aside the competition thanks to a combination of brilliant dancing and sexual tension.

The pair eventually became an item but things are allegedly on the rocks because of his intense dances with Holly.

They are almost certainly contrived rumours to fill a few column inches but baking Holly and Artem at 6/1 could prove a lucrative – bet even if Kara doesn’t tell him to Paso Doble off.
