Wigan replace Swans as drop favourites after Newcastle loss

Wigan’s dismal start to their Premier League season has seen them installed as favouirtes to get relegated.

They were on the receiving end of another defeat on Saturday against in-form Newcastle United and are now 4/6 to drop out of the top tier.

The Latics held out for 81 minutes at St James’s Park before Yohan Cabaye bagged his first ever Premier League goal that saw the Magpies up to fourth in the table and Wigan lose their sixth straight Premier League game.

Roberto Martinez’s men haven’t picked up a point since their 2-0 win against QPR back in August.

However, they have winnable games against Fulham, Wolves and Blackburn coming up and points will surely need to be gained if they are to have any hope of avoiding the drop.

Meanwhile, Swansea have lengthened slightly to 10/11 following their 2-2 draw away to Wolves.

It could have been so much better for Brendan Rogers’ men who were 2-0 up thanks to first half goals from Danny Graham and Joe Allen.

However, two goals in as many minutes from Kevin Doyle and Jamie O’Hara saw Wolves pick up a valuable point and ease the noose around Mick McCarthy’s neck.

McCarthy was coming under some scathing criticism before and during the game but his side are now 7/4 to be playing Championship football next term after their late heroics against the Swans.

Finally, Norwich have lengthened to 9/4 to be relegated following their 1-1 draw at Liverpool which means the Canaries have now lost just one of their previous five Premier League games.
