Alexandra Burke shortens for full-time X Factor judging gig

| 01.11.2011

Alexandra Burke proved to be an able stand-in for Kelly Rowland on this week’s X Factor and she has now been supported to secure a full-time spot on the judge’s panel for the next series of the show.

Being a former winner of the X Factor, Alexandra knows first hand what this year’s contestants are going through and this was arguably obvious in her comments to the acts.

Meanwhile, despite her novice status on the panel compared to Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa, Alexandra was not shy in sharing her own opinion.

One particular confrontation stands out after she stated that Kitty Brucknell had to be careful not to be considered a cabaret act.

Kitty’s mentor Louis was quick to refute such claims, but Alexandra was equally quick to put Louis back on his perch.

The one big negative was that Alexandra came across at times as if she was a preacher addressing her followers, while she could do with improving the way she delivers her points.

Alexandra’s X Factor odds have tumbled from 20/1 to 5/1 to judge on the next series, especially considering the rumours that Kelly has already had enough of the show.

Cheryl Cole is the favourite in this market at 2/1 to return, with Kylie Minogue 4/1 and the hugely popular Adele at 10/1.

Kelly was not only forced to miss the show because of illness, but also had to watch two of her three acts battle for survival in the sing off.

In the end Sophie Habibis was sent home by all four judges, meaning that Misha B will return to take part in the fifth live show in a week themed ‘club classics’.
