Arsenal vs Marseille: Arsene Wenger’s in-form side favourites for clash

Published:

Arsenal’s brilliant 5-3 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday is a clear indication that this is a team on the up.

They were excellent for long spells against the Blues, with Theo Walcott and hat-trick hero Robin van Persie giving Marseille plenty to worry about ahead of their second Champions League game this Tuesday.

The previous Group F meeting between these sides a fortnight ago saw the Gunners scrape a 1-0 victory in France thanks to a last minute Aaron Ramsey goal.

However, everything is pointing to this being a far more exciting encounter.

Apart from that tight win, the Gunners have hit at least two goals in all of their other previous ten games and each of those encounters yielded at least three goals in total.

A punt on over 2.5 goals in this clash looks extremely tempting at a pretty generous 8/11.

The Gunners are currently 4/6 favourites to win the clash and, looking at their Champions League home record, it’s easy to see why.

They have lost just one of their previous 40 games at home and, with Marseille losing their previous three games away to English opposition, the Gunners look good to get their sixth straight win.

Borussia Dortmund vs Olympiacos

The other game in Group F sees the bottom team Borussia Dortmund face Olympiacos, with the German side big favourites at 4/9 to get their first victory of their Champions League campaign.

Olympiacos haven’t won any of their previous five Champions League away games but Dortmund are also without a win in their last five games in Europe’s premiere competition.

With two teams lacking European form, backing a tight game to finish in a draw at 10/3 looks well worth a punt.
