Breaking ‘golden rule’ costs Frankie his X Factor dream

Frankie Cocozza will not be the favourite for elimination on the next X Factor results show after bosses took the decision to axe him from the competition.

Viewers and punters alike have been left slightly shell-shocked in the past two weeks as Frankie has twice somehow managed to survive despite being the self-confessed worst singer in the show.

With only seven acts left, it was widely assumed his time would soon be up – but this has happened quicker than anyone expected.

The exact reason that X Factor bosses have decided to dump Frankie remains unknown, with the only reason given so far being that he broke a ‘golden rule’.

A show source told The Sun: “Frankie is devastated. He had an extra boost from being kept in at the weekend when he thought he was going to go.

“But now his dream is officially over and he only has himself to blame.”

Frankie has seemingly done everything in his power to upset the X Factor bigwigs in recent weeks by constantly going out partying and failing to put the show first – he was also in hot water after swearing on air when avoiding the public vote two weeks ago.

Bosses now have a decision to make in relation to the show going forward.

The two options appear to be continuing as normal with just the six remaining acts, or allowing a former act a lifeline by giving them a chance to return to the competition.

This could mean a contestant such as Johnny Robinson, who has previously been voted out, or someone like Amelia Lily or Jade Richards, who have not had the opportunity to have the public vote in their favour.

An interesting decision would be to bring Ashford Campbell back as a solo act – especially as he has already been voted off twice as a member of Nu Vibe and then The Risk.

Even if someone does return at this late stage, it’s hard to look beyond current favourite Marcus Collins at 9/4.
