Beckham dismisses Man City’s Premier League title ambitions

| 29.11.2011

As if he wasn’t popular enough with Manchester United fans, David Beckham has now come out and completely dismissed the title chances of rivals Manchester City.

Beckham knows a thing or two about winning titles, having won six Premier League titles with United, a La Liga with Real Madrid and, earlier this month, an MLS title with LA Galaxy.

Speaking at a Galaxy press conference, Beckham said: “I don’t think Manchester City have a chance.

“This season they have got a good team and have some good players, but Manchester United have more experience and know how to win a championship.”

Beckham might not be having a punt on City to win the league, but plenty of others have been having a bet on the Citizens claiming a maiden Premier League title.

City are currently the 8/13 favourites to win the league and, in their current rich vein of form, it’s hard to look beyond them.

They are currently five points clear after 13 games of the season and have already humiliated United 6-1 this term.

They are also up against it to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League which, while a blow to City’s global ambitions, shouldn’t harm their Premier League chances one bit – especially as Mancini will be able to field second-string sides in the Europa League.

However, United have shown year after year that they shouldn’t be dismissed and, if they are in the chasing pack after Christmas, they will push City all the way.

United are currently 2/1 to win their 20th league title which could lead to a very decent payout if Golden Balls’ crystal ball is correct.
