Liverpool vs Swansea: Reds’ home defence gives Swans hope

| 05.11.2011

Liverpool are undoubtedly moving in the right direction under Kenny Dalglish and are currently 5/4 to finish in the top four and get into the Champions League.

However, if they are to get back to where they once belonged, they will need to improve a home record that has seen them draw against Sunderland and Norwich this season.

With Steven Gerrard out with an ankle infection and Swansea fresh off the back of a convincing 3-1 win against Bolton Wanderers, this might not be so straightforward for the Reds…

Match odds

Liverpool are unsurprisingly massive 2/7 favourites to win this clash against a side who have picked up just one point in their opening five away games.

The Swans have been swept aside by Chelsea, Manchester City and Norwich City on the road this season and it’s hard to see beyond a win for the Reds

Dalglish’s men did draw 1-1 with Norwich in their previous home game though and, with the Swans getting off the mark against Wolves in their last away game, backing Brendan Rogers’ side to bag a point could be worth considering at 9/2.

If you fancy the Welsh side to spring a massive surprise though, then they can be backed at 9/1 to get their first Premier League away win.

Goal markets

After failing to score in their opening four Premier League games, the Swans have now bagged a goal in each of their previous six and, with Liverpool failing to keep a clean sheet in six home league games, there promises to be plenty of goals.

Four of Swansea’s five away league games this season have yielded four goals or more so a punt on over 3.5 goals looks tempting at 11/8.

Meanwhile, Danny Graham has scored four in four and is 7/2 to score at any time, while former Cardiff player Craig Bellamy is 5/1 to open the scoring against the Bluebirds’ bitter rivals.
