Newcastle vs Everton: Toffees to come unstuck against Magpies

| 05.11.2011

Newcastle United’s brilliant start to the season shows no sign of coming to an end against Everton this Saturday.

The Magpies are currently perched third in the Premier League and, including last season’s games, are now 13 without defeat in the league.

Meanwhile, Everton have lost four of their previous five games and, with Sylvain Distin, Phil Neville and Tim Cahill all struggling with injuries, they could be in for another tough afternoon…

Match odds

Newcastle are big 5/4 favourites to win this game and it’s easy to see why.

The Magpies have been in brilliant form and, if they win this Saturday lunchtime clash, will move to second in the league.

However, their last defeat at St James’ Park came at the hands of Everton who won 2-1 back in March.

The Toffees can be backed at 11/5 to come away with a win but, with their three wins so far this season coming against teams currently occupying three of the bottom five places, it’s hard to see David Moyes’ men upsetting the odds.

Goal Markets

Newcastle currently boast the best defensive record in the Premier League having shipped just seven goals so far this term.

With Everton – who have only the 15th best attack in the league – hardly bristling with goals, backing under 2.5 goals at 4/5 looks well worth considering.

When looking at goalscorers it’s hard to look beyond Newcastle striker Demba Ba who has hit eight goals already this season and bagged a hat-trick against Stoke on Monday.

He can be backed at 9/2 to open the scoring.
