Strictly Come Dancing: Alex Jones worth a punt as Jason falters

Things are starting to get interesting in the Strictly Come Dancing betting, with several of the remaining couples all in with a chance of claiming the title.

Russell Grant was booted off the show on Sunday despite – or maybe because of – his memorable jive that included being blown out of a cannon in a yellow jumpsuit.

His exit means it’s now Robbie Savage who should be in the firing line for elimination next week after he finished second bottom behind Russell in the judges’ scoring.

However, it’s Anita Dobson who is favourite for elimination next week at 5/6.

She is followed by Holly Valance at 4/1 after her somewhat surprising appearance in the bottom two on Saturday.

The judges have shown they will favour the better dancers over those who provide the most in entertainment throughout the series and – unless Robbie is in the bottom two – it looks set to be Anita’s time to waltz off the show next week.

It’s the winners market that is the most intriguing though.

Harry Judd remains favourite at 11/8 to win the competition, while Jason Donovan has drifted to 5/2 following his ambitious but mistake-riddled jive on Saturday.

The likeable Chelsee Healy is out at 10/3 to win the competition but it may be worth looking a little further down the betting as we get nearer the final show.

Alex Jones is proving extremely popular with the public and has improved drastically from her first week performance that saw her gain just 22 points and a dismal four from Craig Revel Horwood.

The One Show presenter finished joint top with Chelsee on Saturday with 34 points and could be well worth considering at a massive 25/1 to win the competition or 7/1 to finish as top female.
