Tottenham vs PAOK: expect visitors to avoid Europe defeat
Tottenham may have wait until the final round of Europa League fixtures to secure their progress from the group stages as they may struggle to win at home to PAOK.
Harry Redknapp has largely utilised his full squad in the Europa League, resting the players to have been most involved in their fine Premier League start and allowing youngsters to gain some valuable first-team experience.
He is unlikely to change his approach for the visit of PAOK and Tottenham’s odds are 4/9 to claim the three points.
In Tottenham’s favour is that they have only lost one of their last 13 home games in Europe and this was nothing to be ashamed of as it was against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
However, there are certainly reasons to believe that PAOK can leave with a result.
The Greek outfit currently top Group A having remained unbeaten through their opening four fixtures and would qualify with a game to spare if they can triumph at White Hart Lane.
PAOK are also unbeaten in six European away games and have already claimed a point at Rubin this season.
Europa League odds of 13/2 certainly look on the large side that PAOK will return home with maximum points and it is 16/5 that they draw to keep their qualification hopes in their own hands heading into their final fixture at home to Rubin.
But punters wanting to boost their chances of victory may be better sticking with the double chance of 7/4 that PAOK either win or draw at Tottenham.
Roman Pavlyuchenko is one player almost guaranteed to start for Spurs and is 4/1 to be the first goalscorer, but the value bet in the market may prove the 22/1 on Georgios Fotakis, who is PAOK’s joint top scorer in the competition thus far.
