Jason and Holly at risk in Strictly Come Dancing double elimination

| 06.12.2011

Jason Donovan headed into Strictly Come Dancing as favourite to walk away with the title – but things have changed drastically in recent weeks.

Following several below par performances, Jason finally produced a brilliant performance in last week’s show but the goodwill of the public appears to have run out.

He finished in the bottom two despite scoring 37 points for his American Smooth and was only saved by virtue of having to dance against the less-than impressive Robbie Savage.

Robbie was the last real ‘novelty’ act and from now on things will get even tougher for the dancers.

It will be especially difficult for Jason who isn’t being cut much slack with the voting public, possibly because of his background in musical theatre.

He is 6/1 to be the tenth celebrity voted off the series and that looks like an excellent punt considering how close he came to an exit last week.

Meanwhile, Alex Jones and Holly Valance are both joint favourites to be the tenth celebrity voted off at 5/4.

Holly wowed the judges with her brilliant Paso Doble last week but, despite gaining sympathy for battling through without partner Artem Chigvintsev during his back injury, her popularity has been dwindling.

Conversely, Alex has been gaining in proficiency and popularity and she continues to show a steady improvement.

She is a popular character and her One Show fan base could be enough to see her make the final.

Backing both Holly and Jason to be the celebrities who fall at the semi-final stage this weekend looks a bet worth a lot of consideration at 3/1.
