Failing England batsmen to be dropped for Sri Lanka series

EOIN MORGAN and Ian Bell could be dropped ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka, according to Ladbrokes.

After a Pakistan whitewash in the UAE, it’s looking like Andy Flower will make some changes to the team ahead of their next series against Sri Lanka and it’s odds-on (4/7) that Eoin Morgan and Ian Bell (5/6) are both dropped from the middle order.

As Andrew Strauss was England’s top 1st innings runscorer, punters can rejoice as £15,000 worth of losing bets were refunded by the firm.

England are the even-money favourites for the next Test, with Sri Lanka the underdogs at 7/2. It’s 4/1 that the team can restore some pride and take the series with a 2-0 win.

Pakistan head in to the ODI series confident as the 5/4 market leaders with England being chalked up at 5/2, and the draw can be backed at 7/4. However, if the national side get off to another bad start it’s 100/1 that Andy Flower’s given the axe before March.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “We were popping the champagne corks as the last wicket fell. Patriotic punters piled in to England but fortunately for us their inability to play the turning ball was exposed.”

She added: “We expect England to bounce back against a bad Sri Lankan team but anticipate some changes along the way.”
