Sheff Wed v Blackpool: expect FA Cup thriller as form sides clash

Published:

Sheffield Wednesday and Blackpool will meet for the third time this season at Hillsborough, with the first two encounters ending as draws.

The same outcome looks likely again here after 90 minutes in the FA Cup odds and can be backed at 9/4.

Wednesday, who are second in League One, are 8/5 to claim a second Championship scalp, after defeating West Ham 1-0 in the third round.

Equally as impressive a result was the 1-1 draw they claimed when travelling to Bloomfield Road, and they could count themselves unlucky not to hold on and pull off an upset at the first time of asking against Blackpool.

Ian Holloway’s men are 17/10 to see off the Owls, and his side are in impressive form in the league, winning their last three to propel them back into Championship promotion contention.

The form of Matt Phillips has contributed immensely to this, and having scored a hat-trick in the previous round, and a brace in his last league outing, he looks big at 6/1 to break the deadlock on Tuesday night.

His namesake Kevin is the same price, and his natural goalscoring instincts always make him look a good value first or last scorer bet, as proved when he bagged the equaliser in the last meeting of the sides.

All losing first scorer bets will also be refunded if Kevin Phillips scores at any time in the 90 minutes.

Clinton Morrison is a big danger for the home side meanwhile, and could score first against Blackpool for the second time in two weeks, also at 6/1.

As both sides have scored and conceded in their past five games, the 10/11 for 2-3 goals to be scored in the game looks good, and braver punters may look at 4+ goals to go in at 21/10.

For bigger odds, scoreline betting could be the way to go.

11/2 is available for another 1-1 draw, but the massive 14/1 on offer for a 2-2 draw should be lapped up by punters, with goals aplenty in each side.
