Wigan v Everton: Toffees set to continue good form against Latics

Published:

Everton’s traditional second half of the season surge up the table the looks like coming to fruition once again.

The Toffees have enjoyed a good couple of weeks and capped off January with a win over Manchester City and the signing of striker Nikica Jelavic – as well as bagging former Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, Wigan continue to struggle and it looks as though they could be in for another long afternoon this Saturday…

Match odds

Everton are the favourites for this clash at 11/10 and they look good to come away from the DW Stadium with all three points.

They have the seventh best away record in the division and face a Wigan side who have the worst home record.

With Everton high on confidence following their 1-0 win over Manchester City and Wigan losing all five of their previous games in all competitions, it’s hard to see Roberto Mancini’s men getting anything out of this clash.

However, if you can see Wigan getting their first win in six games against Everton then they can be backed at 5/2.

Goal markets

There has only been one goalless draw in the previous 13 meetings between these sides and Everton swept aside the Latics 3-1 in their last meeting back in September.

Only one of Wigan’s last four home games has yielded over 2.5 goals though and none of Everton’s last six away from Goodison Park have seen more than two goals scored.

Backing this game to finish with under 2.5 goals scored looks well worth consideration at 4/5.

Finally, new Everton striker Nikica Jelavic is 6/1 to open the scoring on his debut.
