Liverpool striker eyeing summer switch to big-spending PSG

Luis Suarez is reportedly ready to walk out on Liverpool in favour of a big money move to ambitious French club Paris Saint Germain.

PSG’s Qatari owners have promised to transform the sleeping giants into the world’s biggest club and are only too happy to splash the cash.

Though Liverpool insist the Uruguayan is not for sale, player power usually prevails, and there are no shortage of reasons why Suarez will want to jump ship.

The 25-year-old has already expressed his desire to link up with fellow countryman Diego Lugano, who joined PSG from Fenerbahce in the summer.

And Suarez could well be swayed by the prospect of Champions League football. PSG currently sit top of Ligue 1, albeit just a point above Montpellier in second.

However, they are 11 points clear of third, and the top two both qualify automatically for the group stages of Europe’s elite competition.

By contrast, Liverpool are languishing in seventh in the Premier League, and are all of ten points behind Arsenal in fourth.

Victory in the Carling Cup guarantees them European football, but the Europa League is hardly going to convince Suarez to stay. The Reds are now 12/1 to finish in the top four.

Suarez meanwhile isn’t enjoying the most prolific of campaigns. He has scored just six league goals all season and has only struck twice since returning to the fold following suspension.

And if he needed any more motivation to turn his back on a turbulent season at Anfield, he will be joining a star-studded cast at the Parc des Princes.

PSG paid £37million to acquire the services of Palermo midfielder Javier Pastore in the summer and added Inter midfielder Thiago Motta to their ranks in January.

Suarez will no doubt be heading a long list of new recruits come the close season.
