Start Right one of three to stand out after draw made for Lincoln

Start Right has let punters down numerous times in recent memory, but he can make a small measure of revenge with victory at 10/1 in the Lincoln at Doncaster.

A stall near either running rail is seen as a major advantage in the sprint over a straight 1m and Start Right will begin from 18 from the field of 22 runners.

This gives the horse a strong chance of improving upon the form that has seen him win just one of his last ten races, despite being sent off favourite on eight of these occasions.

Crucially, Start Right does have form over a longer distance and the quick ground and pace should also suit, as he should be able to come with a late run to challenge for victory.

Mull Of Killough’s claims have already been promoted on this site and the 20/1 has long gone on his chances, with a good draw in stall 21 one off the rail causing his price to substantially shorten to 14/1.

He is another who should relish a firmer surface and he remains on the same mark which saw him finish third in the Lincoln two years ago.

Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam is additionally convinced that a recent victory at Lingfield has played a vital role in providing the horse with a bit of confidence.

The third horse who may have slipped under the radar of many punters is Light From Mars, who can be backed to win the Lincoln at 20/1.

In terms of recent form, there is little to provide a confidence boost as the grey has failed to finish inside the top six in his last six starts.

However, he ran with credit in the Lincoln last year from the wrong side of the track and competes off 3lb less this time.

He has been handed a useful stall 19 and will appreciate the quick ground, while his experience in big fields could be an advantage, alongside a seasonal reappearance on the all weather to shake off any cobwebs.
