Tottenham and Arsenal set for battle over Blackburn’s Hoilett

| 05.03.2012

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are once again set to do battle – this time over Blackburn winger Junior Hoilett.

According to the Daily Mirror, Spurs are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old who has just a few months left on his contract and would be available for a free in the summer.

Meanwhile, the Metro think it’s Arsenal who are interested and claim the Gunners are favourites to get the Canadian’s signature.

He’s not exactly dissimilar to current Arsenal wingers Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and a move to Arsene Wenger’s side would be hard to turn down for any young player looking to get plenty of first-team opportunities.

However, Manchester City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also thought to be sniffing around the player.

But, after a couple of brilliant wins in their last few games, Arsenal are looking like an even more attractive proposition.

Following wins against Spurs and Liverpool, the Gunners are now in the fourth Champions League spot and just four points behind Spurs.

They are now 8/15 to be playing Champions League football next season after Chelsea’s defeat against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend means they are now three points in front of their London rivals.

Spurs are also expected to finish in the top four though and are 1/7 to make it back into the European elite.

Their title bid looks to be over though following their 3-1 defeat to defending Champions Manchester United on Sunday.

They are now 125/1 to win the Premier League and are 13 points behind leaders Manchester City.
