Swansea v Wolves: relegated Wanderers face uphill challenge

| 27.04.2012

Swansea and Wolves meet at the Liberty Stadium with the Swans 4/7 to get their eighth home win of the season as they look to secure a top half finish in their maiden Premier League campaign.

Brendan Rodgers’ men may have been going through a poor patch of late, winning only one of their last six, but they have not been beaten by any of the bottom seven in Wales so far.

Wolves are 11/2 to record their first win in 11 matches in a bid to finish the campaign in a strong manner despite their relegation to the Championship.

Terry Connor’s side do have a fine record against their hosts, having won six and lost one of the nine previous clashes between the clubs.

The draw is available at 13/5 and this should generate interest as the Welsh club have drawn six of their home matches this season, whilst the visitors have been involved in games finishing all-square six times on the road.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been Swansea’s main goal threat recently and has a strike rate of a goal every other game, making the Icelandic international a 5/1 shot to find the net first against Wanderers.

Wolves’ main goalscoring threat comes from Steven Fletcher at 9/1. The Scot has ten for the season and will be eager to impress suitors ahead of a possible summer move.

The men in gold have thrown away 20 points from winning positions this year, so punters may be tempted to back Swansea to come from behind and win or draw at 4/1, or those more confident in a win for Rodgers’ side can get 15/2 on them coming from behind to take all three points.

Strangely, only Arsenal have won more points from a losing position than Wolves this term.

Connor’s charges have taken 14 points when going behind, so odds of 16/1 for Wolves to come from behind and win may see some action, whilst they are 6/1 to win or draw from a losing scenario.
