Bolton v West Brom: strong away side can turn up heat on Trotters

Published:

With only two games remaining, Bolton desperately need to beat West Brom at 1/1 this Sunday, to aid in their fight against relegation.

The visiting Baggies will be no pushovers however, with departing Roy Hodgson eager to bow out on a high, and they are 13/5 for what would be an eighth away win of the season.

You can get 5/2 odds about the draw meanwhile, but with a tough trip to Stoke to come, that may not be enough for the Trotters, though mid-table West Brom could be content with such a result.

There have been four draws played out between the sides within their last six meetings, though West Brom’s 2-1 success at home to Bolton this season could have chances of repetition given these sides’ contrasting fortunes, at 10/1.

Bolton have the second-worst home record in the league, with only rock-bottom Wolves garnering less points on their own patch and conceding more goals.

West Brom are the division’s eighth best travellers in contrast, and averaging slightly more than a goal per game on the road, could prove a good bet to win or draw a match involving two or less goals at 12/5.

The home side have been swept away on several occasions this season, going into the break behind eight times at home, and suffering 11 defeats in total.

They have been behind at half-time and full-time in two of their last three Reebok Stadium outings, so 5/1 odds about West Brom leading at the half-time and full-time whistles look appealing.

However, Kevin Davies’ restoration to the Trotters’ lineup has paid dividends recently, and the veteran striker may find some support at 5/1 for the opener, after his brace at Sunderland last week.

Peter Odemwingie was the Baggies’ match winner in their last away success meanwhile, and the Nigerian forward’s electric pace makes him look a big threat at 6/1 to score first.
