Tyler can beat Jaz to be will.i.am’s last act on The Voice

| 21.05.2012

Jaz Ellington has been a long-time market leader to win The Voice, but his popularity may be on the wane and so 7/2 looks a big price that Tyler James is the final contestant in the will.i.am camp on the show.

Being the very last contestant in the last audition, Jaz was instantly shown in the best light and the fact he bought will.i.am to tears with his rendition of Ordinary People also enhanced his chances.

Jaz was the clear favourite after being confirmed as one of will’s five acts for the live shows at 4/1, but has since failed to build on his early promise.

The case can certainly be made that Jaz’s voice has become slightly more nasally and to a point repetitive to viewers.

Furthermore, his song chances have largely been safe.

This is in comparison to his rival in will.i.am’s camp Tyler, who has been the complete opposite and grown impressively through the competition.

Meanwhile, Tyler looks far more marketable on the current music scene and seems to be striking the right chord with viewers.

Some punters may point to Jaz getting through via the public vote in the quarter finals, while Tyler had to be saved by will, but there do seem circumstances for this.

Firstly, Jaz closed the show which is always advantageous and benefited from a particularly touching video scene before his song that would have had an impact on the hearts of voters.

It would be unfair if Jaz was given such a profitable spot in the running order again and viewers could well be irritated if a similar video was shown again.

Jaz remains 5/2 to win The Voice, but Tyler certainly seems the most likely of the underdogs to reach the final and his growing following could well swing the vote in his favour.
