Wimbledon Accumulator: Fish to gobble up Brit to seal 25/1 bet
Published:Under normal circumstances, Mardy Fish would be a far bigger favourite than 1/3 to beat James Ward, but the American can still be expected to put his recent troubles behind him to lead a 25/1 accumulator in the Wimbledon odds.
Fish missed the whole of the clay-court season, during which it was discovered that he was suffering with a heart problem.
He has returned for Wimbledon and won in straight sets in the opening round, although it was stated afterwards that he was impacted by a sickness bug.
Despite these issues, Fish is a far superior player than Ward, as he proved when the Brit managed to win just three games in the pair’s only previous meeting in 2010.
David Goffin got the better of the fancied Bernard Tomic in the opening round and can follow up against Jesse Levine, while the mouth-watering clash is between Grigor Dimitrov and Marcos Baghdatis.
Dimitrov won the prior meeting between the two and has enjoyed the better grass-court season leading into Wimbledon, when making the semi finals of the Aegon Championships.
In the women’s draw, Anabel Medina Garrigues was successful in our accumulator in an earlier round and she is picked again to beat Slovak teenager Jana Cepelova.
Kiki Bertens was particularly impressive when dominating Lucie Safarova in the opening round an can repeat her success over French Open quarter finalist Yaroslava Shvedova from earlier in the season in Mexico.
Finally, Galina Voskoboeva has already dumped out Yanina Wickmayer at one Grand Slam this year and it is a bit of a surprise that she is the underdog to complete the Australian Open and Wimbledon double.
