Wimbledon Accumulator: Stosur exit to spark 79/1 payday

Published:

Sam Stosur may be the fifth seed in the women’s draw at Wimbledon, but she tends to be poor historically at SW19 and a defeat to Arantxa Rus in round two this year can help land our 79/1 accumulator.

Only once in nine attempts has Stosur made it beyond the second round and she is certainly a lesser opponent on grass than on the clay of the French Open.

Rus has proven in the past that she can mix it with the big names when beating Kim Clijsters at last year’s French Open and can surprise again.

In total we have predicted eight results across the draw of both the men and women.

Angelique Kerber reached the semi finals of last year’s US Open and progressed to the final on the grass of Eastbourne recently.

She beat Ekaterina Makarova en route to this final and can defeat her fellow left hander again at Wimbledon.

Shuai Peng is our other female pick to beat her fellow oriental rival Ayumi Morita and she has won the last three meetings between the pair.

Julien Benneteau is the shortest price of our five men’s picks as he looks to improve his career record to 3-0 against Michael Russell and fellow Frenchman Gilles Simon can maintain a similar record against Xavier Malisse.

Radek Stepanek only needed to play one set in the first round and can beat Benjamin Becker, while Denis Istomin can gain revenge for a clay-court defeat from Igor Andreev earlier this season.

Finally, Juan Monaco could enjoy a classic with Jeremy Chardy, but can scrape through.

Julien Benneteau to beat Michael Russell @ 2/9
