All things point to Rosberg top-six finish in British Grand Prix

Sergio Perez insists that even more of a premium will be placed on qualifying than normal at the British Grand Prix and this makes Nico Rosberg appear a decent price at 1/1 to finish inside the top six at Silverstone.

The British Grand Prix represents the ninth stop on this season’s Formula One calendar and will allow drivers to keep their toes down that little bit more, with the fast sweeping corners one of the leading features of the circuit.

Silverstone is clearly a track that brings the best out of Rosberg, as he has scored well on each of his last three F1 visits to England.

After taking fifth with Williams in 2009, he has also failed to finish outside of the top six in his two seasons at Mercedes, which includes a podium in 2010.

Rosberg has made a decent fist of qualifying in the last few races, beginning from the top six in Monaco, Canada and then Valencia.

According to Sauber man Perez, it will be more difficult to complete overtaking manoeuvres at Silverstone in comparison to Valencia and so drivers may struggle to make up for disappointments in qualifying.

His point can be backed up by the fact that the first three in the British Grand Prix last season all began from the top three places on the grid, albeit in a different order.

As well as qualifying solidly, Rosberg has made a bit of a habit of finishing just off the podium this season.

After a slow start to the season, Rosberg has finished inside the top six in six of the last seven races, with the one exception being when taking seventh in Spain.

This run does include a maiden Grand Prix victory in China and it is 14/1 that he adds a second at Silverstone, while Rosberg can be backed at 7/2 to finish on the podium in the British Grand Prix.

Safer punters may prefer to take the 1/3 that Rosberg is among the points by finishing in the top ten.
