Chelsea face battle with Arsenal to land Wigan’s Victor Moses

| 11.07.2012

Arsenal look set to try and steal Wigan winger Victor Moses from under the nose of London rivals Chelsea – at least if the latest rumours are to be believed.

According to the Metro, Arsene Wenger is considering splashing some serious cash on the Nigerian as speculation about the future of Theo Walcott grows.

The England man has just one year left on his contract at the Emirates and is stalling on a new deal, with his close friend and Premier League top scorer Robin van Persie likely to be heading for the exit this summer.

However, the former Crystal Palace man won’t come cheap and Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has slapped a £12million price tag on his star man.

If it comes down to a bidding war, then Chelsea will surely have the upper hand but, with Wenger’s excellent reputation for nurturing young players, the 21-year-old may be wise to seriously consider his options.

Arsenal are currently fourth favourites for the league title at 12/1, while the Blues are in at 9/2 behind the two Manchester sides.

In more news that should keep Gunners’ fans happy, it looks as though striker Marouane Chamakh could be on his way to Italy, with Fiorentina apparently making a bid for the Moroccan, according to the Mirror.

The player hit just one goal last term after a season in which he rarely played for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Even if the Fiorentina deal doesn’t come to fruition, it looks as though he will be off, with Arsenal already signing Germany star Lukas Podolski and France’s Olivier Giroud also poised to join their attacking ranks.
