Expected rain to suit Farhh against So You Think in Eclipse

With the Met Office anticipating rain for the remainder of the week in the London and Surrey area, Farhh looks to have a major chance of victory in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown at 4/1.

Farhh may have lost his unbeaten record at Royal Ascot when third to So You Think in the Prince of Wales’ Stakes, but he came out of the race with a great deal of credit.

Firstly, he was taking a major leap in class from his prior success in the Thirsk Hunt Cup and was denied a clear run at the winner when boxed on the inside rail, meaning that when daylight finally came, it was too late, despite charging home like a train.

He is certainly worth another shot at So You Think, especially on what will seemingly be on more favourable soft ground compared to the firmer surface at Royal Ascot.

Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor has stated his hopes for downpours in the coming days and a steady continuation will be needed with the ground at Sandown currently racing fast, as the recent bits of pieces of rain have done little to soften the surface.

So You Think beat Workforce to win the Eclipse last year and his price of 4/6 suggests that he is expected to do so again.

His victory at Royal Ascot must be regarded as a boost to his chances and much will depend on how early he is asked to commit for home.

The longer that he can be held on to, the better his chances and the fact that the favourite has triumphed in each of the last three years is another positive.

However, no six-year-old has managed to win the Eclipse in the last decade.
