Juventus jump to the head of the queue for Robin Van Persie

Robin Van Persie looks set to depart Arsenal this summer after rejecting the opportunity to extend his contract at the Emirates and his destination is set to be the big transfer story of the summer.

It would seem that Juventus have moved into pole position to sign the Dutchman and are set to make a bid in the region of £15 million to prise Van Persie away from London.

The Old Lady are planning on making the striker one of the highest paid players on the planet with a contract upwards of £200,000 a week supposedly on the table.

The former Feynoord man has made it known in the past that he is a fan of Serie A and with the current champions keen to bolster their attacking options it would seems logical that a move should arise, and Ladbrokes are offering 9/4 that he is plying his trade in Turin next season.

However, it is believed that Manchester City are still interested in the 37-goal hitman and with the endless riches at Roberto Mancini’s disposal it is 8/11 that Van Persie follows in the footsteps of both Emmanuel Adebayor and Samir Nasri in making the move up north.

Other English options if the 28-year-old wishes to stay in the Premier League include a move to the other side of Manchester to join Sir Alex’s men and it is 7/1 that he walks out at Old Trafford a Red Devil next term.

Rumours of Barcelona attempting to offload David Villa have led to the unavoidable links between RVP and the Catalan club.

His experience in an Arsenal team that plays a similar to style to Barca means that he could easily slot into the front three at the Camp Nou, and he is 7/1 to be playing for Tito Villanova’s men come the start of the campaign.
