Murray 1/7 to never win Wimbledon and 4/1 to be sponsored by Kleenex

ANDY MURRAY has passed up his best chance of winning Wimbledon, according to Ladbrokes.

The bookies now make him odds-on at 1/7 to NEVER win the tournament. It’s 4/1 he atones for the defeat at any time in his career and he remains odds-on at 8/11 to secure a career major.

Murray lost the final despite hitting odds as short as 4/7 in-play, which saw Federer drift to 5/4 and subsequently attract a bet of £80,000. Further bets of £60,000 and £40,000 struck at evens, along with a bet of £50,000 on him to win the next set at 1-0 down.

Large stakes weren’t just exclusive to the live action with a wager of £200,000 placed on the eventual winner at 1/2 before the game.

The game broke records for bets struck in-play with up to £103 a second bet at the peak of activity when Murray secured the first set.

Following his post-match tears, the bookies also make Murray a 4/1 shot to endorse Kleenex or any major tissue brand before the end of next year.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Murray may well have blown his best chance of winning Wimbledon. He remains odds-on to secure that elusive major away from SW19 however.”

He added: “The game played ideally into the hands of those betting in-play. As soon as Federer hit odds-against it was like a red rag to a bull with massive bets flying around by the second.”
