Alan Hansen boldly predicted after a youthful Manchester United side lost 3-1 at Aston Villa in the first game of the 1995/96 Premier League season that: “You’ll never win anything with kids!”
Nine months later, United clinched the title and then the FA Cup against Liverpool, Hansen’s former club. The soundbite remains a source of embarrassment for the Scot.
