Record of female judges bodes well for Nicole Scherzinger X Factor win

Published:

Nicole Scherzinger has been appointed as a replacement for Kelly Rowland on the X Factor judging panel and there are suitable grounds as to why she has been installed as the 6/4 favourite to mentor the winning act.

Female judges have been responsible for each of the last five X Factor winners, with Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue providing two victors each before Tulisa guided Little Mix to success in the last series.

Meanwhile, females have a particularly strong mentoring record when enjoying their first series on the show.

Season four was Dannii’s first season when she witnessed Leon Jackson’s victory, while Cheryl won with Alexandra Burke when replacing Sharon Osbourne.

Last year was Tulisa’s first when she experienced victory and so Sharon and Kelly are the only women to not mentor the winner in their first series and obviously it was impossible for both Kelly and Tulisa to win in 2011.

A third reason for a probable Nicole triumph is that the speculation suggests that she will be mentoring the boys’ category, which has been responsible for half of the eight series winners in the history of the X Factor.

Furthermore, in six of the last seven seasons, there has been at least one boy in the final two.

Tulisa is 7/4 to follow in Cheryl’s footsteps in winning the X Factor two years in a row and is said to be mentoring the girls this time.

No over-age contestant has won in ten years since Steve Brookstein claimed victory in the first ever X Factor and this is the reason why Gary Barlow’s wait for a first victory seems set to continue.

It is 5/1 that Gary wins the X Factor, with Louis Walsh at 4/1 to win and provide the groups with another triumph after that of Little Mix.
