Marseille star could be next in at big-spending QPR

QPR have already brought in 11 new faces during this transfer window, but aren’t ready to stop there, with Marseille’s Stephane M’Bia another potential arrival.

A defensive midfielder, M’Bia could fill the void left by former Rs captain Joey Barton, who is ironically set to join Marseille after leaving Loftus Road this week.

The Cameroon international, 26, cost the French club more than £10million from Rennes only two years ago, but has outlined his desire for a new challenge.

He will opt to find it in London rather than Turkey, after snubbing late interest from Fenerbahce in order to undergo negotiations with Mark Hughes.

And in doing so, M’Bia is set to become one of a mass wave of signings that will make QPR’s side barely recognisable from that which regularly appeared last term.

M’Bia’s versatility is believed to have been key to Hughes’ decision to step up his interest, with the 36-cap star adept in a central defensive role as well as in midfield.

Those capabilities have greatly appealed to Rs chief Hughes, and as such he will be delighted to conclude a move for the Cameroonian tonight.
