Expect goals as Man City face struggling Newcastle

Newcastle United’s poor start to their season is rapidly turning into simply a poor season.

Alan Pardew’s men are currently just two points above the drop zone thanks to five defeats in their last six Premier League games, including a 2-1 loss at Fulham on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, City lost their unbeaten Premier League record against Manchester United last Sunday thanks to Robin van Persie’s last minute winner.

The visit of a wounded Manchester City to St James’ Park doesn’t hold much hope for the Toon Army – especially considering their poor recent record against the Citizens.

City have seen off the North East side in each of their last five meetings and have done so by scoring bags of goals. The Premier League champions have scored at least two against Newcastle in each of their previous eight encounters.

In fact, just two of their last eight games have seen under 2.5 goals scored and both of those came in games that City won 2-0 at Newcastle.

Newcastle’s home form hasn’t been too horrendous (certainly not compared to their away form that’s seen them go eight games without a win this season) but it’s tough to see them getting anything out of this clash.

Backing City to come through and win this looks a no-brainer at a decent 8/13, while a decent wedge of cash can be made by lumping on there to be plenty of goals.

Over 2.5 goals can be backed at 8/11, while Man City to win with over 2.5 goals being scored in the match is currently available at an 11/8.
