Celta v Zaragoza: Striker situation gives edge to visitors

Published:

The battle at the foot of the La Liga table hots up when the bottom two sides clash at the Balaídos.

With just 57 goals combined between the northern Spanish clubs, to suggest that this will be a high scoring affair would be fatuous, however Real Zaragoza boast striker Helder Postiga amongst their ranks; whilst hosts Celta will be without the services of top scorer Iago Aspas, who sits out the final game of a four match suspension.

Having hit 11 goals already this season, the former Spurs and Portsmouth forward has recorded the opening strike on six occasions this campaign. At 6/1 to open the scoring, the Portuguese marksman leads the way in the 1st goal scorer market for the visitors.

Also in amongst the strikers for the visitors is the on-loan Ruben Rochina, who has yet to hit the back of the net in eight appearances. The striker on loan from Blackburn Rovers can be backed at 10/1 to record his 1st strike for his new side.

Value on the first goals scorer market for the hosts can be found in Augusto Fernandez, with the midfielder the top marksman likely to be on the field for Celta. Like Postiga, the Argentinian midfielder is priced at a reasonable 6/1 to record the opening strike.

Worryingly for Mario Jimenez and Zaragoza fans, the Aragonese club dropped into the bottom three after conceding three goals without reply at home to Barcelona last week and are without a win since beating fellow strugglers Athletic Bilbao in December. With this in mind, they can be backed at 11/4 to break their winless streak.

More encouragingly for bottom club Celta, Os Celestes have managed to record two victories since their visitors last recorded a maximum points haul, with both wins coming in front of their own fans. Celta can be backed at evens to heap more misery on Zaragoza, and draw level on points with their relegation rivals.
