Golden Sprint honours in the offing for Seamus Cahill’s Mottos Impact

Published:

Mottos Impact recently defied odds of 8/1 (10/1 at the start of the day) to score in a Golden Sprint semi-finals fastest 23.72sec at Romford and there could be more to come from Seamus Cahill’s charge.

The upcoming £8,000 Category One decider appears to be wide open with the aforementioned Impact currently available at 4/1, shortening from 6/1 earlier in the week.

Oaks finalist Droopys Loner finished two lengths behind Cahill’s lid-pinger, a useful piece of form for the two-year old to carry into the showpiece event.

The five box is perhaps not ideal for a runner who would ideally be placed right in the middle of the action.

But another fast break could see a lead established off the first bend and a real chance of the Royal Impact whelp going five-from-seven at the London Road track.

Getting in front won’t be easy though. Barrie Draper’s rapid railer Farloe Barracuda is the 5/4 favourite for a good reason.

The step up in trip since seeing off Mottos Impact by two-and-a-half lengths on the evening of the Trainers’ Championship at Yarmouth has done little to halt the rise of the exciting Barracuda.

And the Sheffield star has demonstrated that he’s determined as well as classy on the big stage.

Having missed the break in his recent semi, a gutsy show of strength was required to come through trouble and find the gap required to kick on and take the spoils.

However, another failure to trap well could allow the likes of Mottos Impact or Garryglass Rodge (4/1) to enjoy the freedom of Romford with a clear run through the middle.

The fact that Barracuda has also got the not insignificant task of repelling the inside charge of 4/1 shot Droopys Loner is another possible positive in favour of the progressive Impact.
