King of Stats: All the numbers ahead of Champions League semis

Published:

It is now time for the semi finals of the Champions League and not many would disagree that the right four teams have reached this stage.

This makes it tougher to predict outcomes, but the King of Stats believes that some profit-making angles have been found ahead of Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich taking on Barcelona.

5 – Dortmund possess the best home record of the four semi finalists, winning all five of their fixtures at Westfalenstadion. It is 9/5 they retain this 100 per cent record with a home success over Real Madrid.

56 – Dortmund and Real Madrid are also the only two clubs in the competition to have had 56 or more shots on target from inside the penalty box this season, which suggests there may be goals. This makes 33/20 a tempting price that four or more goals are scored at Westfalenstadion.

11 – In Dortmund’s last eight Champions League games, some 11 goals have been scored in the period between the 30th minute and the half-time whistle. 5/4 is the price that a goal arrives in this 15-minute block when they host Real Madrid.

7 – Cristiano Ronaldo is the Champions League top scorer this season with 11 goals, but seven of this total have come in his five away appearances. This is probably the reason why Ronaldo is fairly short at 5/6 to score at any time in the 90 minutes in Dortmund.

8 – The current unbeaten run of Barcelona in Germany, dating back to the 2001/02 season in which they were beaten by Bayer Leverkusen. Barcelona are 21/20 in the draw no bet market to win at the Allianz Arena.

2 – Barcelona have conceded exactly two goals in three of their last four Champions League away days. Bayern are 11/10 to score two or more to continue this record.

6 – The inclusion of Mario Gomez of late has potentially been pivotal in Bayern scoring 16 goals across their last three fixtures. Gomez has six of these and can be backed at 6/4 to find the target in the 90 minutes against Barca.
