Time to get back on Van Persie bandwagon in Fantasy Football

Published:

Here we are again. Another Fantasy Football gameweek where five clubs play twice and three have no Premier League fixtures, giving managers a potential headache.

Some to involve multiple players from Tottenham, West Brom or Swansea may be struggling to get a full team out, while others to have thought more long-term may have a decision to make regarding whether a player with two games is likely to get more points than another who has the one easier fixture.

One thing that is for sure is that those managers with Arsenal or Manchester United stars in their ranks will name them in their side for gameweek 33 and it is from either of these clubs where the top points scorer is likely to emerge.

The Fantasy Football betting suggests the same, with a pair of Gunners at the head of the market and Robin van Persie just behind.

Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla are both 10/1 and Arsenal have home fixtures with Norwich and Everton to look forward to.

Walcott is rated by Arsene Wenger as 90 per cent likely to be fit to face Norwich and given his injury troubles, there is a strong possibility that he may start on the bench.

Therefore, of the pair, preference is for Cazorla, who has picked up a combined 27 points across Arsenal’s last two appearances at the Emirates against Aston Villa and Reading.

Van Persie may not have scored in 10 games for Man Utd, but away clashes with Stoke and West Ham provide plenty of optimism that he will rediscover his shooting boots.

The Dutchman has scored seven goals in his last five fixtures with Stoke and scored in both of his encounters with the Hammers this season.

It is 12/1 that Van Persie, who remains the highest-scoring player in the whole game this season, accrues the most points in gameweek 33.

Of those at bigger prices to consider, Kevin Mirallas has enjoyed a productive four gameweeks and with Everton tending to keep squad rotation to a minimum, he could start against both QPR and Arsenal.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
