Fulham v Reading: dead duck poised to be a serene affair

Published:

Whilst last season produced the most dramatic finish in Premier League history, this season’s finale has a rather more sedate feeling to it – and nowhere will be more relaxed than Craven Cottage this Saturday.

Fulham are safe in the warm embrace of mid-table while Reading are already planning for life in the Championship after being relegated following their draw with QPR last weekend.

With nothing whatsoever riding on this clash, there should be very little on the pitch to distract the Fulham and Reading fans from enjoying a nice afternoon on the banks of the Thames.

Fulham have been resolutely average at Craven Cottage, losing against the big boys but picking up plenty of points against teams below them in the table.

They’ve lost just one of their eight home matches against sides in the bottom half of the table and, with Reading having the worst away record in the Premier League (they’ve lost all bar three of their away games this term), a Fulham win looks the most likely outcome here.

The Cottagers are available at 8/11 to pick up all three points and that looks the match bet to take on.

Meanwhile, if there’s one player you’d back to thrive in the relaxing atmosphere of an end of season dead duck, it’s Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgarian – who scored against Reading earlier in the season – may be on a run of five games without a goal but he hit six in six prior to that mini-drought, including goals against West Ham, Sunderland and a brace against QPR.

Backing Berbatov to score first looks worth a punt at 7/2 while the former Manchester United man  to score and Fulham to win i available at 13/8.
