Ernie Els and Reteif Goosen have produced some of their finest displays at this prestigious event and it is for that reason that they share between them the only four titles won at this event by players hailing from the Rainbow Nation.

The Goose registered his last victory here nine years ago as he edged out Phil Mickelson by two shots and he made a welcome return to contention in last year’s tournament as he finished just four shots off the pace to finish tied-tenth with the likes of Lee Westwood.

The 44-year-old already has one top ten finish to his name on the PGA Tour this season, and performed well in his last outing in the Zurich Classic to finish just outside the top 20.

The two-time champion, narrowly missed the top 20 here in 2011 and has three top ten successes at the Majors in the previous three years, making him great each-way value at 125/1.

Fellow countryman Ernie Els turns it on for the big events and shocked everyone when he claimed the 2012 Open crown as he usurped Adam Scott to lift his fourth Major trophy.

The Big Easy’s two victories in this tournament may have come in the 90s but he has form in the big four. He has recorded four top ten finishes, to go along with his Open victory, in the last four years and ignoring him as an each-way chance at a whopping 66/1 may prove foolish.

Tim Clark is another older head hailing from South Africa who has real pedigree at this tournament.

The 37-year-old was a third-place finisher in 2005 and while he has failed to scale those heights since he finished tied-12th as recently as 2010 and is heavily priced at 80/1.

2013 has finally seen the Arizona resident make steady progress from elbow surgery that saw him miss the whole of 2011.

He enjoyed a Tavistock Cup victory as part of Team Albany as well as a second place finish in Hawaii and most recently impressed with a tied-seventh finish at the Crowne Plaza Invitational.
