Fehaydi can please punters on hefty TV racing card

The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes may be the highlight of the seven televised races from Ascot and York, but Fehaydi could be the horse to follow for maximum profits.

14:05 Ascot: Wind Fire @ 15/8

Wee Jean was an impressive winner of a debut that has seen the second and third win again since, but the last eight winners of this Group 3 have had a Racing Post Rating in three digits and she doesn’t.

Chrousa is interesting from the Jim Bolger stable, but this 6f may be on the short side, so preference is for Wind Fire on her first try at this trip, who was third against the colts in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes last time.

14:20 York: Les Troyens @ 7/1

Smarty Socks has a lot in his favour, having more wins than the rest of the field on the ground and at York, while the last two winners of this were off his racing weight of 9st8lb.

Les Troyens remains a bit of an unknown quantity though and ran more than credibly on his British debut. He can step up to take this.

14:40 Ascot: Fehaydi @ 11/1

Butterfly McQueen is the only course winner in the field and this could be significant, while Cape Peron has only been raised 1lb for a fine effort in the Britannia Stakes on ground that was perhaps a little too quick.

But Fehaydi may be worth one more chance, especially at an each-way price, after a couple of races where he has looked capable of better.

14:55 York: Mukhadram @ 4/7

Sri Putra is back to defend his title from last year, but Mukhadram is certainly weighted to win this, as he is rated 10 points higher more than two horses conceding 3lb to him here.

The main danger could prove to be The Apache after successive Group 1 seconds, although he has not been seen for four months.

15:15 Ascot: Compton @ 18/1

All of the last five winners have been sent off at 14/1 or longer, which is bad news for returning champion Field Of Dream, three-year-old favourites Queensbury Rules and Ashaadd and Hawkeyethenoo, who is down in class after five successive races in Group class.

Compton is interesting if returning to the form he showed on two starts at Ascot last season, especially after seeing his official rating drop after a lucklustre campaign to date.

15:30 York: Bogart @ 16/1

Kieren Fallon has made this race his own in recent years as he has been on board the last three winners, but his absence this time has opened the door for another jockey to step up.

That jockey could be little known Amy Ryan, as Bogart has continued to slide the weights after a lacklustre season, but a horse of his ability should not be such a price here.

15:50 Ascot: Trading Leather @ 9/2

St Nicholas Abbey’s retirement because of colic at home has thrown the race more wide open, with Cirrus Des Aigles the warm favourite despite the fact that a seven-year has never won this race in 60 years.

Sir Michael Stoute has won two of the last four runnings and Hillstar could make the necessary improvement, but Trading Leather continues to improve and may be the one to side with.
