Avoid Man City duo in Fantasy Football team and bets

Published:

Manchester City players are bound to be popular fantasy football selections this season, given they have kept at least 17 clean sheets in each of the last three campaigns and they have been busy bolstering their attacking ranks in recent weeks.

One of the biggest problems in identifying which players to select is determining those that are most guaranteed regular first-team starts and one name that instantly springs to mind is Yaya Toure.

For this reason, Toure, who is valued at £8.5m in the game, may be regarded as a viable longshot to be Man City’s top fantasy football point scorer this season at 8/1.

However, he instead looks one player to certainly avoid in this market. In each of his three Premier League seasons to date, he has scored exactly six goals for Manchester City.

The other player to avoid looks to be Stevan Jovetic at 14/1 to be the top Man City point scorer, even though this may look a big price for a player considered to be a striker in the game.

Yet, the truth is that he is more likely to be rivalling Samir Nasri for a starting berth, as this is the City player that he plays most alike.

This will make it tough to emulate the 27 goals he has converted across the last two seasons at Fiorentina and this could make him a dud investment at £9.5m.

Somewhat surprisingly, it was Joe Hart that was Man City’s top-scoring player in the last campaign with 158 points and to emulate this feat he is priced up at an enticing 20/1.

But it is hard not to believe that David Silva will showcase more regular sprinkles of magic in Manuel Pellegrini’s more attack-minded tactics, after being off the boil for much of the last campaign.

Despite this, he still only finished 11 points adrift of Hart and with Man City’s strikers in line for a vast amount of rotation, Silva seems to be the attacker that is assured of the most pitch-time.

This makes the 6/1 on offer for Silva to be Man City’s top point scorer a great bet.
