League One accumulator: Posh can enjoy another away day

Published:

Having blown away the cobwebs when they returned to meaningful action last weekend, the clubs in League One will now be eager to get their seasons really up and running.

Leyton Orient were the headline acts on day one of the season when they hammered Carlisle United 5-1 at Brunton Park, and Russell Slade’s men form part of our four-team Saturday acca this time around too.

Peterborough were also winners last weekend, and following their equally impressive 5-1 victory at Colchester in the League Cup in midweek they are also added to a multiple which pays at over 13/1.

Leyton Orient to beat Shrewsbury @ 5/6

In-form Orient did the league double over Shrewsbury last season, whilst their 3-2 midweek League Cup win over Coventry at Brisbane Road took their recent record to six wins from their last seven home matches. The Shrews drew with MK Dons last weekend before losing to Bolton in the cup, and they are winless in their last four away.

Peterborough to beat Notts County @ 6/4

Posh are in rude health on the road thanks to that 5-1 cup win at Colchester, whilst they won on their last trip to Meadow Lane two years ago. Opponents Notts County suffered a 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United in the opening game of the season last Friday, whilst their eyes may now be on an upcoming, and money-spinning, League Cup trip to Anfield.

Swindon to beat Stevenage @ 5/6

The managerless Robins are unbeaten in six matches at the County Ground, and received a midweek League Cup boost when they saw off Torquay. Their visitors may have beaten Ipswich in the cup but they ended last season with one of the worst away records in the Football League, losing eight of their 10 matches.

Wolves to beat Gillingham @ 7/10

These may not be stellar times for Wolves – times not helped by a cup defeat a Morecambe – but new boss Kenny Jackett will be eager to impress in his first match at Molineux. He could hardly have handpicked more ideal opponents than Gillingham, who lost at home to Bristol City last weekend and are winless in seven away.

A £10 accumulator on the above selections returns £142.85.
