Finch and Marsh can power Australia to victory over England

Australia have a fearsome opening partnership that are bang in-form and it could be the pair of Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh that pose the biggest threat to England.

The visitors are the slight favourites at 4/5 after their 200-run mauling of Scotland in their warm-up match.

The performance of the top two is what has propelled their team into the perceived ascendancy and they are the most likely to head the batting  for their country.

Finch announced himself to the English public with a sensational 156 off 63 balls, as he set an international T20 record, bludgeoning the home bowlers to the boundary with frightening regularity.

In his next outing the Colac-born blade-wielder was out for five in the second T20, before returning against Scotland in the one day form of the game in blistering touch.

Finch posted 148, his best ever ODI score, alongside  Marsh as the pair put on an Australian first wicket partnership of 246 runs as the Aussies romped to victory over their hosts.

He is likely to open at Headingley, as he did in his previous two mammoth scores, and a price of 7/2 about him being the tourists’ top scorer in this opening clash looks attractive.

His opening partner Marsh looked imperious when at the crease against the Scots outdoing his companion by three runs to post the highest score of the day.

The Western Warriors man registered a 40 and a 70 in two of the matches prior to the meeting with Scotland and looks in good form.

He also has pedigree against Eoin Morgan’s side, notching 110 when the two met at Hobart back in 2011 and his proven calibre at this level makes his 4/1 price an enticing one.
