Man City’s trip to West Ham could be decided late

While the mercurial Ravel Morrison grabbed the headlines with his solo goal, West Ham’s shock win at Tottenham will cause many to sit up and take notice of Sam Allardyce’s team.

Looking to back up their derby success the Hammers welcome Manchester City next, still without an away win in the Premier League this season.

West Ham haven’t won at home since the opening day against Cardiff City, conceding late winners to Everton and Stoke. Manuel Pellegrini’s side have also suffered in the last quarter of their away games, with Andreas Weimann’s winner for Aston Villa and Frazier Campbell’s double for Cardiff coming after the 75-minute mark.

It’s 17/20 for there to be a goal between 75 minutes and the full time whistle in this game. That market has paid out in seven of City’s 10 matches this season and five of West Ham’s nine games, while there were late goals in two of the last four games between these teams.

Allardyce will no doubt be happy to let City dominate possession early on, content to let his team defend in numbers as they did at White Hart Lane, but with fatigue from the busy international week setting in the game could become stretched late on.

You can get 20/1 for the opening goal to come after the 80-minute mark. It’s 3/1 for the second half to feature over 2.5 goals, with three goals at 19/4 and four or over available at 9/1.

In particular, expect to see threats from set pieces. West Ham have conceded from direct free kicks from Stoke’s Jermaine Pennant and Everton’s Leighton Baines, while City’s Yaya Toure has already scored twice from dead balls against Newcastle and Hull City.

The Citizens are 8/1 to emulate Everton with a come from behind win.
